My music video uses develops and challenges many different forms and conventions of real media products by:
Firstly, us using different locations in our music video. This was done in order for our video to match the lyrics in the song and to also feel the same emotions as the singer. So,therefore, after a lot of planning we decided to shoot our music video in 4 different places.
The first one was in a hall with a stage. We wanted to have scenes from this hall in order to set the whole slow rock/country theme and how this girl is on stage thinking about not having someone there to support her. It had a lot of guitar scenes which targets another convention of real media products and it had a lot of darkness and a flash to represent she is there in the spotlight to express her feelings which is her way of dealing with her guilt.
Our second location was outside in a little garden This was the scene where we see the singer writing lyrics to her song and loads of wind blowing ger way This was the shortest scene for the song. I say this because the song lyrics involved the words " i never meant to hurt you i know i don't deserve you" so being in this peaceful place shows she is very upset and regrets what she did to the person she loved which fits very well with the song as it is about that.

Our third location was at valentines park . This really fit in with our music video because it then contrasts with the whole rock/country style to show the whole theme of responsibilty for plants and animals this showed that this girl was a teenager who was once in love but ruined it, but being around plants and animals makes the atmosphere very calm So by going to Valentines park it really set the whole country style of music and romance.
And lastly our forth location was in a in a dance studio. We had to think a lot about if we should do a scene in a dance studio or not because we wasn't sure if it was going to fit the genre of the song as usually in a dance studio you would expect the performer to dance so we also had to take in to consideration about how we was going to make it look good and match the lyrics to the song. However, after analyzing the location we decided to show the emotion of the singer on how she was feeling very selfish and looking in the mirror feeling sorry for herself in the dance studio and it came out looking great as they're was many mirrors so you couldn't miss the emotion. The lyrics matched the location very well as she was looking in the mirror showing herself that shes changed and a different person now.
This music video was a challenge for us as we had a story line but didn't know which way was the best way to show the love story between two people who just broke up from a very serious relationship. When we first chose the song we had to listen out for the lyrics to think about ideas, but couldn’t really figure out how to tell the story of this song in a way we could attract the audience, so we decided to take it rock/country style as that was the genre of the song and try to express the story very well by showing her playing the guitar and nature of the world quite alot.
We also used ideas from Adele's music video someone like you in our music video such as the close up of the face in black and white and we also challenged the hegemony of woman being represented as erotic desire according to Laura Mulvey's theory 'The Male Gaze'. We represented women as men would usually be represented as women are usually in costumes that are very revealing whereas in our music video a teenage girl is covered up and not erotic desire as the main focus is about how they are feeling not how they are being seen from men.

In this music video Christina Aguilera is seen as erotic desire whereas in our music video you can clearly see that we are not trying to represent women in the male gaze and we are trying to represent them positively rather that negatively and in our music video we see that the female singer is not revealing anything in the way christina aguilera is in her music video dirty which portrays females negatively.
We also used the very successful Beyonce to inspire us in our video. We used 'If I were a boy' which was the idea of showing the past in black and white and also the use of rewinding it back to the past. This is seen in our leaf scene and many others to show the difference between the sorrow in the present and the happiness of the past when the couple were happily together.
