Favourite Music Video

Jessie J- nobody's perfect is one of my favourite music video's because the lyrics of the song match the video so therefore this attracts the audience. This video and song is one of my all time favorite songs because the lyrics have a great meaning and the lyrics match some parts of the video. In the video there is a part where Jessie j is singing about not being a saint or a sinner and she is dressed as a saint which is very ironic. This Video is very Colourful, bold and in your face with Jessie J comin at ya in her inevitable style. It delivers the goods and fits the song a treat and is a slick polished production. Also this video is very strange because in this video the audience can see that Jessie j is dressed up in many costumes and the theme is like a fun house  with many toys and many different ornaments  to represent modernism. The ornaments in this video are very old fashioned which matches the strangeness of the video.

This is also one of my favorite music video's because in the video it shows you that anyone can join in with the dancing as the dancing is set in the streets so therefore it makes the audience feel like they can join in and enjoy themselves as much as the people in the music videos. The title of the song has a huge affect on the people that watch it because it is called the party rock anthem and in the video it is like a party because lots of people are dancing having a good time. i also like this video because it is humorous as the artists are shuffling and at the beginning of the video they are getting interrupted by someone talking to them which would usually happen at a party. Usually at parties many people dance and have a good time and that is basically the meaning of the song.

Ideas for music video

For our music video we have many ideas one of the ideas is a girl band called thicke. Thicke is a girl band that sings rnb & pop.

This girl band is a group of three talented young ladies from Los Angeles, California have arrived and are igniting the music scene.  Meet RaVaughn Nichelle, Sha’Leah Nikole and Shaunise Renee’.  Collectively they are Thicke.  Armed with the complete package for success these young ladies possess explosive vocals, sizzling songs and volatile dance moves.
The trio has redefined the “girl band” concept with their own unique musical style. Thicke’s seemingly effortless harmonies leave audiences mesmerized and yearning for more.  Their formula for success…a touch of old school, and a pinch of Dirty South blended with a dash of R & B flavor.
Because of the foundation Thicke has laid their craft has developed into an exciting musical experience. Extremely talented yet not limited to only composing songs, they contribute to vocal arrangement and choreography. Though young in age, the members of Thicke are professionals and are now prepared to step into their spotlight. This girl band is full of vocals filled with power and soul, bodily curves that appeal to the eye and their skin tough enough to endure in the entertainment industry

This now 18-year-old songbird has been singing since before she could pronounce words and formulate sentences. Her parents believe it was due to a radio playing near her crib since she was an infant, along with her family's deep-rooted musical history. Jasmine realized her talent and desire, and began to perform in school and talent shows across Atlanta. One of Jasmine’s dreams was to perform on the stage of the legendary Apollo in NYC. During her quest to accomplish this dream she entered the, “Apollo Kids” competition in Atlanta where she was chosen as a runner up, to a 5 year old girl who recited the famous poem by Maya Angelo " Still I Rise". A no win situation, but winning is not everything. Understanding this and the music business Jasmine decided she just loved to perform around others who also loved to entertain, and entered to other competitions, and showcases where she where she continued her success. Jasmine has also been invited to perform and sing at various venues’ in Atlanta and around the South where she has a strong supportive fan base. Jasmine's Professional career began when her father began working with her in his recording studio in Atlanta.

Music Video Success Criteria

These are several ways in which a music video can be judged as successful such as:
-Positive word of mouth
-Good reviews on magazines, online etc.
-Increase with sales via CD's and downloads
-Charts
-MTV video music awards
-Youtube views
Some videos can be seen as successful even if its for the wrong reasons e.g. Rebecca Black 'Friday'
The song was publicised mainly on Twitter, with 'Rebecca Black' being in the top ten trending topics worldwide for at least a week. This song has had well over 167,000,000 views on Youtube, and has nearly 7 times more dislikes, which over 3,210,0, than likes. The video has also disabled the adding of comments due to a high number of complaints and comments on how terrible both the song and video is. The artist herself has received death threats for having such an awful song. The YouTube star, who shot to fame earlier this year with her viral hit Friday, confessed that she had been the victim of school bullies thanks to her newfound popularity. The singer has since opted for homeschooling. In an interview, Rebecca Black said: "When I walk by they'll start singing Friday in a really nasally voice. Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?"
Due to all the hits, the song has even been released for download on iTunes, along with a number of parodies, as well as apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

What is the purpose of a music video?

-To Popularise the song and artist
-To market the song and artist
-Appeal to core audience
-Broaden the appeal
-Familiarise the audience, the artist and the song

The Brief

My task is to produce a music promo video, this video has to be up to 5mins long. For this music video i can either work on my own or walk in a group of up to 4 people. Also my task is to produce a digipak for the song's release on dvd and a magazine advertisement for the dvd. In addition to the promo video i will also have to produce a critical evaluation and write on here about the research and planning. i am also going to be writing about my favourite music videos and how they are effective and how the video's help to promote the band/track.
