Music Video Success Criteria

These are several ways in which a music video can be judged as successful such as:
-Positive word of mouth
-Good reviews on magazines, online etc.
-Increase with sales via CD's and downloads
-Charts
-MTV video music awards
-Youtube views
Some videos can be seen as successful even if its for the wrong reasons e.g. Rebecca Black 'Friday'
The song was publicised mainly on Twitter, with 'Rebecca Black' being in the top ten trending topics worldwide for at least a week. This song has had well over 167,000,000 views on Youtube, and has nearly 7 times more dislikes, which over 3,210,0, than likes. The video has also disabled the adding of comments due to a high number of complaints and comments on how terrible both the song and video is. The artist herself has received death threats for having such an awful song. The YouTube star, who shot to fame earlier this year with her viral hit Friday, confessed that she had been the victim of school bullies thanks to her newfound popularity. The singer has since opted for homeschooling. In an interview, Rebecca Black said: "When I walk by they'll start singing Friday in a really nasally voice. Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?"
Due to all the hits, the song has even been released for download on iTunes, along with a number of parodies, as well as apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
